ITV cop drama The Bill is to take on another taboo by featuring an incest storyline, according to TeleText.
In an episode to air on December 3, Sergeant June Ackland will end up between the sheets with PC Gabriel Kent only to discover that he's her long-lost son.
Former EastEnders actor Todd Carty, who plays Kent, said: "The story is certainly up there as one of the most sensational ones I've ever done. It bends the rules and it's great to be given something like this to act. As we're about to see, Gabriel Kent is capable of just about anything."
Trudie Goodwin, alias Ackland, added: "People who are related yet not brought up together are apparently attracted to one another because they see themselves in each other. You can almost hear the collective 'Eurghh!' that'll come from viewers."
