The Mirror claims that the stand-up is being offered a £4 million deal to host a primetime Saturday night show.
Hill's deal with the channel would apparently allow him to continue working with ITV on his award-winning TV Burp show.
"Harry is one of the top comedians on TV," said a source. "Crucially he is someone who appeals to the whole family, so he would be perfect for the BBC on Saturday primetime presenting a show like The Generation Game.
"If the BBC make a formal approach, expect a real tug-of-war. Let's be honest, he's the only funny thing on ITV."
However, a BBC spokeswoman told DS: "Whilst we love Harry and think he's a huge talent, there is absolutely no truth whatsoever in the rumour that the BBC is even in talks with him, let alone offering a multi-million pound deal."
