ITV2 sets spinoff focus

ITV2 will spend more money on 'extra' shows in place of original content in 2004.
The channel has enjoyed some of its biggest ratings successes from ITV1 spinoff shows such as Pop Idol Extra and I'm A Celebrity Now, typically benefitting from the big lead-ins on its parent station.
Pop Idol Extra was the highest rated programme on any multichannel station in the week ending 23 November, according to Barb figures.
Around £2m will be diverted from original commissions - which this year has included The Club, Office Monkey and Million Dollar Babes - leaving just £1m in the pot for original shows in 2004.
An ITV spokeswoman described the move as "playing to ITV2's strengths".
