Cornwell: 'CelebAir' is hard work

CelebAir contestant Phil Cornwell has admitted that working for an airline is much harder work then he imagined.

Cornwell, known for impersonating celebrities on BBC comedy Stella Street, revealed that he found the initial six-week training course "intense".

"I didn't realise how much training would be involved," he said. "You have to pass these exams, it's serious, it's CAA, the Civil Aviation Authority. They insist upon you passing all these exams that they set. It's much harder than I anticipated."

Cornwell added that he kept two celebrity passengers entertained on CelebAir's inaugural flight with the Michael Caine impression he popularised on Stella Street.

"I did do a little bit for the Goldie Lookin' Chain boys (Maggot and Eggsy)," he commented. "They're great, they're sweethearts. I did a little bit for them, you've got to, I suppose. There's interesting people on this trip - diverse."

When quizzed about who he thinks could win the ITV2 reality show, Cornwell replied: "I think Kenzie could go quite a long way. Maybe Chico could, as well. I'm being diplomatic here but I just find it hard to call, I just don't know. There might be some surprises."

CelebAir begins Tuesday, September 2 at 9pm on ITV2.
