Poor showing for Thurman's 'Zinc Bed'

My Zinc Bed, an adaptation of David Hare's acclaimed play, drew an average of just 1.04m (4.4%) to BBC Two between 9pm and 10.10pm. The channel was actually in fifth place for the period, behind even Five, which had 1.3m (5.4%) for an episode of Rory & Paddy's Great British Adventure.
BBC One dominated the slot with Who Do You Think You Are? This week's episode of the celebrity genealogy show, featuring an emotional Jerry Springer, drew a solid 6.5m (27%) in the 9pm hour. On ITV1, coverage of the Champions League game between Liverpool and Belgian team Standard Liege averaged 4.55m (20.1%) from 8pm to 10.10pm.
A surprise live task brought in 3.4m (14.1%) to Big Brother in the 9pm hour, with a further 321,000 (1.9%) watching on Channel 4+1. A second live show, broadcast between 11.05pm and 11.40pm, managed 3.17m (27.7%).
Coronation Street was the day's top performer, registering 8.39m (41.4%) at 7.30pm, a week-on-week rise of 400,000. Emmerdale was second with 6.58m (34.7%) at 7pm. On BBC One in the 7pm hour, The One Show put in 3.88m (20.5%) and a My Family repeat had 3.22m (15.9%).
At 8pm, BBC One's Sky Cops lost a sizeable 800,000 to average 4.17m (20.2%) over half an hour. Following on, Trawlermen was down 300,000 to 4.25m (19.4%). BBC Two's Natural World special, looking at elephant nomads of the Namib Desert, interested 1.34m (6.4%) over the hour. Channel 4's Embarrassing Illnesses added 700,000 to average 2.31m (11.2%), then How Clean Is Your House? added an impressive 850,000 to average 3.15m (14.4%).
Channel 4 also had success with a stand-up gig from Alan Carr. Tooth Fairy Live, shown from 10pm to 11.05pm, had 2.79m (14.7%), up significantly from the 1.3m (7.2%) who saw Dangerous Jobs For Girls in the same slot last week. At the same time, Five's Banged Up Abroad improved more than 25% to 1.02m (5.3%).
ITV2's screening of comedy sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason was the biggest multichannel draw, averaging 691,000 (3.8%) from 9pm to 11.10pm. A further 177,000 (1.4%) watched on ITV2+1.
BBC Three's coverage of the Champions League match between Arsenal and Dutch side FC Twente averaged 440,000 (2.2%) over two hours from 10pm. A double-bill of Family Guy followed with 354,000 (1.9%) and 466,000 (2.7%).
Big Brother's Big Mouth made a huge improvement on E4, delivering 552,000 (7.9%) from 11.35pm to 12.05am. First-look Hollyoaks was also a dependable winner, attracting 469,000 (2.9%) at 7pm and 158,000 (0.9%) on timeshift.
Elsewhere, a Poirot repeat ensnared 622,000 (3.4%) for ITV3 in the 8pm hour.
