Published Friday, Dec 19 2003, 15:36 GMT | By James Welsh
Sunset+Vine, the company that produces cricket coverage for Channel 4, will produce over 60 hours of horse racing coverage for the BBC.
The outsourcing of horse racing production at the BBC is part of an effort at the corporation to meet its target of having 25% of its programmes commissioned from independent producers.
Barbara Slater, BBC Head of General Sport, said:
"In the face of fierce competition, Sunset+Vine produced a thoroughly impressive bid.
"Their commitment to collaborative working, innovation and creativity is second to none and we believe that they are the right partners to work with in continuing the BBC's high standards of racing coverage."
The contract is for two years.
