Xena: Warrior Princess has been axed, The New York Post has reported.
Bosses came to the decision not because of low ratings, but because the show costs too much to make. Rob Tapert, one of the show's creators, said: "It was no longer of interest for the stations to carry Xena. They found it more profitable to create their own programming."
The final series, currently in production, should complete its run in the US early next summer.
