Ofcom received 42 complaints over the sequence, but the regulator ruled that it did not constitute a breach as it took place in Iceland where puffin is a part of the national diet.
The TV watchdog also said the birds were killed in a humane way with minimal suffering.
Viewers had complained that puffins were under threat and that their killing was disturbing. Ofcom said it appreciated the concern of people who were unhappy that they should be caught and eaten in this way.
However, it ruled that The F Word often includes items featuring the rearing, hunting or killing of a variety of animals for food, adding that a verbal warning was given before the sequence screened.
