Quest will lead the network's coverage along with Atlanta-based anchor Jonathan Mann, who presents the week-nightly analysis show Insight.
Rena Golden, senior vice president of CNN International, said:
"CNN International is the destination network for political news, with our comprehensive coverage providing more than 165 million households around the world with the most extensive overview and insight into the U.S. presidential race."
In a press release, CNNI announced:
"With U.S. foreign policy as a major focal point for CNN's coverage of the presidential election, CNN is dedicated to offering regional perspectives to its viewers around the world. CNN will feature special reports from European political editor Robin Oakley, senior Asia correspondent Mike Chinoy, Africa correspondent Jeff Koinange, senior Middle East correspondent Brent Sadler and Latin America correspondent Harris Whitbeck. CNN will also take stock of the viewpoints of U.S. allies and will look at the large number of American expatriates around the world and how their vote could affect the outcome in November."
After the Iowa caucuses on January 19, Richard Quest will bring his inimitable presence to the CNN Election Express bus, which by that time will be en route to New Hampshire to cover the primaries in that state on January 27. Quest and Mann will team up for special reports and editions of Insight. Coverage will then continue through the year in the buildup to the general election in November, with special reports and analysis on Your World Today and International Correspondents.
