'Camp Rock' brings in 1.5m for Disney
Original movie Camp Rock brought in more than 1.5 milllion viewers to the Disney Channel over the weekend.

The film, which stars teen pop trio the Jonas Brothers, premiered at 6pm on Friday with 552,000 (3.8%), quadrupling the slot average. An additional 228,000 (1.3%) watched on timeshift service Disney Channel +1. A further six screenings over the course of the weekend took the total audience to around 1.5 million.

Timeshift included, the premiere showing of Camp Rock was the most-watched multichannel programme on Friday, ahead of BBC Three's 10pm EastEnders repeat, which had 558,000 (3.3%).

Coronation Street was the day's overall top performer, with 7.62m (37.7%) at 7.30pm and 7.28m (33.2%) an hour later. EastEnders put in 6.88m (32.5%) at 8pm and Emmerdale managed 5.36m (29.4%) at 7pm.

ITV1's Tonight special on back ache set 3.58m (16.9%) straight at 8pm, and BBC One's DIY SOS took 3.09m (14.1%) at 8.30pm.

ITV1 kept the lead in the 9pm with Wire In The Blood, which was down on last week's 5.58m (26.2%) opener to 4.78m (22.8%). BBC One had 2.84m (13.4%) for comedy Harry & Paul - down from last week's 3.23m (15.1%) opener - then 2.54m (12.3%) for clip show The Best Of Would I Lie To You?

On BBC Two, Mastermind interested 2.21m (10.4%) at 8pm, then the audience built to 2.32m (10.5%) for Gardeners' World at 8.30pm. Historical drama The Tudors held steady with 1.97m (9.4%) at 9pm.

Channel 4 had a lacklustre night, meanwhile. Daytime cookery show Come Dine With Me was actually the channel's top performing show of the day, with an impressive 1.88m (14.5%) at 5.30pm. At 8pm, A Place In The Sun logged 1.12m (5.2%) and an hour later, Ugly Betty dropped to 1.46m (7%). The US drama has now lost half its audience since returning a fortnight ago. At 10pm, stage show Ricky Gervais: Fame amused 1.18m (6.7%).

Five put in a decent performance, starting with 1.26m (5.9%) for Axe Men in the 8pm hour. NCIS delivered 1.71m (8.2%) at 9pm, putting the channel ahead of C4's Betty, and 1.46m (8.2%) stuck around for Law & Order: SVU at 10pm.
