S4C plans Welsh 'Celebrity Big Brother'

A Welsh version of Celebrity Big Brother is in development for S4C, The Sun reports today.

Instead of the familiar house in Hertfordshire, the group of celebs will be holed up in a remote cottage for two weeks learning the Welsh language.

Among those already approached are singer Charlotte Church and ex-boyfriend Steven Johnson, Hi-De-Hi star Ruth Madoc and former Steps singer Faye Tozer.

“There will be no Celebrity Big Brother this year, so this is the nearest thing we’ve got to it," an insider told the newspaper. "The stars will be locked in a special house in North Wales and will spend their time learning the language. This may not appeal to the whole nation, but will be popular with Welsh viewers.”

The show is due for broadcast later this year.
