The programme began in the US 20 years ago this year, with Lopez playing wrestler A.C. Slater and Gosselaar heartthrob Zack Morris.
The show, which also starred Dustin Diamond, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, Elizabeth Berkley and Lark Voorhies, became a favourite among teen viewers.
Speaking to Extra, the pair, both 34, said they were surprised by its success, adding that the series has now become iconic.
"We never thought [it] was going to get picked up… It’s cool now to watch Saved By The Bell," remarked Gosselaar.
"The crazy thing is, I think it's a bigger phenomenon now that it’s ever been… I find it very bizarre that so many guys give it so much attention because in college it has a cult following," said Lopez.
