Harry Enfield sketch sparks complaints
The Philippine Embassy has written a letter of complaint to the BBC about a Harry Enfield sketch that featured a Filipino maid being told to have sex with a neighbour.

Letters were also sent to the Secretary of State for Women and the Press Complaints Commission, reports Metro.

The episode, which aired on September 26, was described as "revolting and disgusting" by women's rights activist Risa Hontiveros, while a senior Philippines Foreign Affairs official claimed the sketch was a "slur on our domestic workers" in Britain.

A statement from the British Embassy in Manila said Filipinos in the UK "are an important part of British society, making invaluable contributions to our scientific and service sectors, and enriching UK culture".

Filipinos living in Britain have posted a petition online aiming to "re-educate the BBC and the television broadcasting industry about responsible and culturally sensitive broadcasting".
