Surprisingly, BBC1's Antiques Roadshow took on and beat ITV's Stars and their Lives on Sunday evening.
Michael Aspel took 7.8 million (34%), whilst 6.6 million (29%) watched Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney declare his love for girlfriend Heather Mills. A new series of Heartbeat thrashed a Casualty special, with 11.5 million (45%). The hospital drama managed just 6.4 million (25%).
Panorama: Digging The Dirt performed terribly in the second week of its new Sunday night slot, attracting just 2.2 million (13%). On ITV, meanwhile, a repeat of Tarrant on TV drew 6.2 million, followed by an ITN News Bulletin (4.6 million).
