Harry Hill has been lined up to replace Jonathan Ross as the host of the British Comedy Awards, say reports.

According to The Sun, ITV considers Hill to be a "safe pair of hands" following Ross's decision to pull out of the presenting job.

"He's a big name but his comedy isn't too near the knuckle," said a source. "The last thing ITV wants is to cause offence.

"Harry will be great at introducing the clips because he's perfected the art with TV Burp."

Graham Norton, Dara O'Briain, Piers Morgan, Al Murray and Jimmy Carr are also apparently in the running for the job. The ceremony will air on ITV1 on December 6.
