The Girls Aloud singer has taken acting lessons ahead of her role as the beautician girlfriend of a London banker in Freefall, according to The Sun.
Dominic Savage, who has written the film for the BBC, explained: "This is a film essentially about greed that in many ways has got out of control.
"It is a film that reflects our obsession with wanting more, wanting everything, the desire in many of us to gain the world, but in doing so, potentially lose our souls.
"Freefall reflects those complexities, needs and conflicts that I believe exist in us all."
Harding said she was looking forward to the task. "Dominic Savage's films are all about improvisation, which is pretty challenging, but that's also a big reason why I want to do the project," she said. "It's so different to what I'm used to."
Lily Allen's brother Alfie is apparently also being lined up for a role.
