Acting director-general Mark Byford has announced an editorial review of the BBC's news output as the repercussions of the outcome of the Hutton Inquiry continue to rumble on.
The review's remit will cover "examin[ing] the editorial issues for the BBC" raised post-Hutton, and making recommendations as to any necessary revisions of the corporation's Producers' Guidelines and complaints procedures.
Ronald Neil, a former director of BBC News and Current Affairs, will chair the review panel, which also includes Glenwyn Benson, Controller Factual Television; Helen Boaden, Controller Radio 4; Adrian Van Klaveren, Head of Newsgathering, BBC News; Richard Tait, former Editor in Chief ITN; and Stephen Whittle, Controller Editorial Policy, BBC.
Recommendations made by the panel are expected to be put forward to the BBC governors in June.
