The landmark moment for the programme, which is hosted by Fiona Bruce, will be seen at a Gateshead roadshow in tomorrow night's episode of the BBC One show.
Series editor Simon Shaw told The Mirror: "The person who brought the item goes pretty silent when they are told but that is because they are trying to take it all in.
"I have watched 250,000 valuations over the years that have been thrilling and exciting but when our expert Philip [Mould] said he was going to make this kind of valuation we were all nervous with anticipation. It doesn't fail to deliver on screen."
The most valuable find in the show's 29-year history had previously been a £300,000 collection of silver, seen in a 2007 episode of the programme.
