ITV confirms 'Harley Street' axe

The broadcaster's director of television Peter Fincham confirmed that the show, which starred Paul Nicholls and Suranne Jones, will not return for another run. He said ITV will instead shift its focus to new dramas such as Demons and Whitechapel in 2009.
"Harley Street is not coming back. At any one time, we are commissioning new drama and returning drama and it is a balance," he told The Guardian.
The show failed to draw viewers, pulling in 3.9 million (18% share) for its first episode, which fell to 2.7 million (12%) for the last.
In September, Nicholls said that he expected the programme to be recommissioned by ITV.
