Parents of the Band, in which Nail stars as a one-hit wonder from the '80s, pulled in just 2.61m (11.2%) to BBC One from 8.30pm. The figure is down on the 3.07m (13.3%) who saw the last episode of After You've Gone in the same slot a week earlier.
The comedy suffered from going up against Coronation Street on ITV1, which pulled in the day's best numbers with 8.79m (37.6%). An earlier episode had 8.6m (39.1%) at 7.30pm.
BBC One's EastEnders picked up 8.16m (36.4%) at 8pm and a further 370k (1.9%) on BBC Three. Emmerdale took its usual third place amongst the soaps, with 6.82m (33.4%) at 7pm.
Hollyoaks had 1.64m (8.3%) for Channel 4 at 6.30pm, then 466k (2.6%) for E4 at 7pm. At 10pm, Hollyoaks Later concluded with 390k (2.2%) on E4 and 290k (3%) on E4+1. Across the week, the spinoff series has averaged a strong 632k (4%) for E4 and 211k (2.5%) for E4+1.
On Five, Neighbours had 1.51m (9.5%) and a double-bill of Home & Away brought in 921k (4.9%) and 666k (3.4%).
I'm A Celebrity dominated the 9pm hour with 7.7m (33.7%) for ITV1. On BBC One, Have I Got News For You posted 4.57m (19.3%), then Gavin & Stacey kept 2.94m (12.7%).
BBC Two interested with 2.4m (10.7%) for Mastermind at 8pm, then Gardeners' World had 2.11m (9%). Channel 4's Come Dine With Me interested 1.66m (7.2%) and on Five, World's Strongest Man Super Series started with 914k (4%).
At 9pm, Five jumped ahead of its rivals with 1.58m (6.8%) for a repeat of NCIS. BBC Two's legal documentary The Barristers had 1.39m (6%), marginally ahead of the 1.39m (5.9%) for Gordon Ramsay: Cookalong Live on Channel 4.
ITV1 led primetime with an average share of 31.3% (last week: 27.9%) to BBC One's 19.6% (20.4%). BBC Two was third with 8.1% (8.2%), followed by Channel 4 on 5.5% (5.8%) and Five on 4.4% (5.4%).
A repeat of A Touch Of Frost was the most popular multichannel choice, with an average audience of 876k (4.7%) for ITV3 between 9pm and 11.10pm. It followed on from Poirot, which put in a strong 534k (2.7%) for the 8pm hour.
Sky1's quintuple bill of The Simpsons delivered decent ratings throughout primetime, with a peak audience of 592k (3.1%) at 7.30pm. ITV2's top audience was 460k (3.3%) for its I'm A Celebrity spinoff show.
