Michael McIntyre, Jonathan Ross's Friday night replacement, is certain that the host will return to the coveted BBC slot.
The stand-up, who hosts Live At The Apollo tonight in place of Ross's chatshow, told Newsbeat that his Friday residency will only be temporary.
McIntyre commented: "He's got a massive audience and I'm sure he'll return to his audience. It's a great show... Friday night's a great slot. We'll temporarily fill the vacancy and I'm sure Ross will be back."
The comic joked that he only landed the job as Ross's stand-in because the BBC ran out of Speed films to fill the schedule.
"We had Speed - was there Speed 2?" he asked. "We ran out of Speed films so now they've put in some original programming."
