Director Spiers passes away, aged 63

Spiers passed away in Devon, surrounded by his family, after suffering a long illness.
The Glasgow-born director began his career as an assistant floor manager before working on some of the most successful BBC sitcoms.
His credits include Dad's Army, Fawlty Towers, Are You Being Served? and Absolutely Fabulous.
Away from the BBC, Spiers directed the movie Spiceworld, ITV kids' drama Press Gang and Channel 4 comedy The Comic Strip Presents.... His last work was Ant and Dec's A Tribute To The Likely Lads in 2002.
