Ruth Watson's new series for Channel 4 made an impressive start in the ratings on Tuesday night.

Country House Rescue, which sees the businesswoman attempt to turn around the fortunes of ailing stately homes, drew 2.31m (9.9%) in the 9pm hour. Five had 2.05m (8.8%) with CSI: Miami and a Horizon investigation into the increase of allergies brought in 1.92m (8.3%) for BBC Two.

BBC One won the slot, taking 4.84m (20.8%) for the latest episode of Survivors. ITV1's primetime schedule was handed over to coverage of Chelsea vs CFR Cluj in the Champions League. The game averaged a disappointing 3.39m (14.6%) between 7.30pm and 10pm.

Holby City took 5.98m (25.7%) for BBC One at 8pm, while BBC Two's Natural World - this week exploring ancient cork oaks in Portugal - appealed to 2.4m (10.3%).
Channel 4 instructed 1.76m (7.5%) on How To Look Good Naked and Five's Danger Men put in 1.09m (4.7%).

The climax of EastEnders' paedophile storyline reaped rewards at 7.30pm as 9.89m (44%) tuned in, a rise of more than 3m week-on-week. BBC Three's repeat drew a further 862k (5%) at 10pm. ITV1's Emmerdale pulled in 6.34m (29.8%).

Hollyoaks delivered 1.8m (8.7%) to Channel 4 at 6.30pm, then E4's first-look had 875k (4.7%) at 7pm (+1: 174k, 0.9%). On Five, Neighbours had 1.53m (9.6%) and Home & Away had 1.04m (5.4%).

BBC One led primetime with an overall share of 26.4% (last week: 21.5%) to ITV1's dismal 15.5% (25.1%). BBC Two had 7.8% (6.5%) for third, followed by Channel 4 on 7.4% (7.1%) and Five on 6% (6.8%).

ITV4's coverage of Liverpool vs PSV Eindhoven was the top multichannel draw of the day, averaging 1.18m (5.8%) between 7.30pm and 10pm. A subsequent screening of the hooligan movie Green Street managed 356k (3.1%).
