'Life' ends on high note for ITV

ITV managed another convincing Monday night ratings victory yesterday (March 22) thanks to a strong drama lineup.
An episode of Emmerdale set the ball rolling at 7pm with an average of 10.13 million viewers and a 46.75% share. Coronation Street ruled the roost at 7.30pm with 13.81m (58.93%), beating BBC One's 8pm episode of EastEnders, which had 12.47m (50.93%).
A second episode of Corrie at 8.30pm drew in 11.71m (45.35%), providing a strong inheritance for the last episode of Caroline Quentin drama Life Begins in the 9pm hour with 9.34m (37.98%). Meanwhile, BBC One's medical documentary Your Life in their Hands averaged 4.47m (18.18%).
Earlier in the evening, Channel 4's Fit Farm dipped further to just 1.13m (5.83%) at 6pm, almost half the number that watched predecessor The Salon.
Overall in peaktime, ITV1 was on top with an average share of 38.27% (last week: 39.70%, almost double that of second-placed BBC One on 23.56% (23.63%). It was a close race for third place, with Channel 4 taking a marginal 7.52% (5.35%) lead over BBC Two on 7.48% (8.82%). Five rounded things off with 4.55% (4.91%).
