Celebrity Mastermind host John Humphrys has blasted claims that contestants on the programme were given crib sheets to help them.
The presenter called comments made by Radio 5 Live presenter Victoria Derbyshire, who appeared on Wednesday's installment, "idiotic" and "flippant".
He said: "The programme takes its integrity very seriously indeed and for someone in her position to say such a thing was disgraceful."
Derbyshire has since retracted her remarks, saying that show officials gave her research advice rather than specific answers.
