Andrea Sanke will be moving from Deutsche Welle TV to CNN International, becoming a news anchor at the network's regional headquarters in London in July.
The global news network also announced a variety of internal promotions. Paula Hancocks, currently covering the Israeli/Palestinian conflict for CNNI and CNN/USA, has been promoted from producer/reporter to full-time video correspondent. She will be based at CNN International in London. Aneesh Raman, currently an assignment desk editor for CNN International in Atlanta, will become a full-time video correspondent in Bangkok. Alphonso Van Marsh will be deployed as a video correspondent in Turkey, where CNN operates the CNN Turk joint-venture channel with Dogan Media Group. The new video correspondent positions will entail using new digital filming and editing equipment developed in-house by CNN.
In addition to the promotions above, Atika Shubert, currently a correspondent based in Tokyo, will become the full-time CNN correspondent in Japan.
"These new positions reinforce CNN’s commitment to hiring and deploying highly energized and talented correspondents and anchors," said CNN International's managing director, Chris Cramer. "Their enthusiasm and agility in their new roles will further enhance our global newsgathering and anchor teams."
