The TV chef swore 240 times on Friday night's Gordon's Great British Nightmare, while other people featured in the programme added to the count with a further 69. A total of some 312 swear words were heard in the course of the show's 103 minutes.
One scene featured 37 expletives in 95 seconds, equivalent to one every two and a half seconds, reports The Sunday Mirror.
A Channel 4 spokesman said: "Gordon Ramsay is a well-known TV personality and viewers know what to expect. The swearing was a genuine expression of his passion and frustration."
