'Whitechapel' holds steady audience

The three-parter, about a serial killer replicating the Jack The Ripper murders, began last week with more than 8 million. This week the second episode was seen by 7.14m (28.3%), a comfortable winner in the 9pm slot.
BBC One's Who Do You Think You Are? - this week featuring Fiona Bruce - had a respectable 5.83m (23.2%) over the same period.
Channel 4 documentary The Princess and The Gangster, recounting Princess Margaret's association with notorious '70s criminal John Bindon, had 1.73m (6.9%), while BBC Two crime drama Moses Jones picked up just 1.22m (4.8%).
Five's screening of Steven Seagal actioner Today You Die averaged 1.12m (5.2%) between 9pm and 10.55pm.
The latest University Challenge semi was seen by 3.63m (14.4%) on BBC Two at 8pm, then a new week of MasterChef began with 4.1m (16.2%).
Channel 4's Dispatches: Too Old To Work, examining ageism in the work place, drew 1.41m (5.6%) for the 8pm hour and on Five, Fifth Gear took 885k (3.5%).
Coronation Street had a strong night, with 9.99m (41.3%) tuning in for the 7.30pm episode and 9.81m (38.8%) watching an hour later. EastEnders also performed strongly, with 9.75m (38.8%) at 8pm, and ITV1's Emmerdale logged 7.68m (34.4%).
Hollyoaks brought in 1.96m (8.9%) for Channel 4 and on Five, Neighbours had 1.46m (8.6%) and Home & Away had 1.16m (5.8%).
ITV1's average primetime share was 27.7%, four points in front of BBC One. BBC Two was third with 8%, followed by Channel 4 with 5.7% (+1: 0.6%) and Five with 3.8%.
First-look Home & Away pulled in the biggest multichannel numbers of the day, averaging 789k (4%) for Fiver at 6.30pm.
