Another big audience for Euro 2004

Over 20 million viewers tuned in to see England take a 4-2 victory over Croatia and land themselves a place in the Euro 2004 quarter finals last night (Monday).

An average of 18.1 million viewers - a 68.6% share of the TV audience - watched the game from 7.45pm on BBC One, the highest average of the tournament so far.

Ratings peaked in the final quarter hour when a massive 20.4 million (71.7%) were hooked.

Each of the England matches has been a ratings monster, all with averages close to the 20 million mark - although none of the figures take into account the many millions who have watched the games in pubs and clubs around the country.

Non-England games have also been successful; on Sunday an average of 8.7 million (36.8%) saw Portugal triumph over Spain.

England's quarter final clash with Portugal will be shown on BBC One, 7.30pm this Thursday.
