Tommy Walsh quits 'Ground Force'

The future of the BBC's garden makeover show Ground Force has been thrown into doubt after landscape gardener Tommy Walsh announced he is quitting the show.

According to the Mirror today, Walsh is defecting to ITV to present  his own home improvement show later in the year.

"I don't want the public to tire of the show and my personal opinion is that it should probably be put to sleep for about five years. Then it should come back with a new cast and crew and a slightly different format," said Walsh.

"I won't compromise. It's not like Changing Rooms where you slap up medium density fibreboard. I know it's a different format for them, but when I leave a job I want to be proud of it," he continued.

"Ground Force is close to my heart which is why I don't want to see it sunk."
