Piper to play single mum in ITV drama

Billie Piper is to play a struggling single mum in a new ITV drama, reports The Sun.

The actress, who gave birth to son Winston in October, will battle life on a rough estate with her baby daughter and her mother in the new show.

Her character will reportedly go in search of the father she has never met, only to find that he is a multi-millionaire. The pair form a close bond based on their shared inability to hold down a relationship and set about finding a partner for each other.

"It's a classic odd couple story," said a show insider. "It has something of the 'two worlds collide' about it. Billie's character sees how the other half live and her old man comes to terms with life on the breadline."

Piper recently revealed that she would be cutting back on her acting to spend time with her son, adding that she would "wait for the right thing to come along".
