The comic, real name Robert Harper, will play Lee Mack's dad in the show. He will turn up at Lee's flat dressed as Father Christmas and smelling of alcohol, according to The Sun.
Harper, 65, was part of successful double act Canon and Ball, who appeared in numerous TV shows during the '70s and '80s.
More recently, he was cast in the fifth season of I'm A Celebrity... and long-running sitcom Last Of The Summer Wine.
