'Supernanny' a hit for Channel 4
Channel 4's new reality series Supernanny made a stong start with a peak of almost six million viewers last night (Wednesday).

The show, which sees tough nanny Jo Frost take on unruly children, averaged 4.6 million viewers and a 21.2% audience share in the 9pm hour. More tellingly, the audience grew throughout with a peak of 5.8 million (26.6%) at 9.45pm.

The ratings are comparable to that of the broadcaster's other successful entertainment/factual series Wife Swap, which is currently enjoying a third run.

It was a good night all round for C4, which also had an impressive 5.2 million (27.1%) for Big Brother at 10pm.
