The show, to be screened before a studio audience, sees contestants asked to complete straight forward tasks within the confines of a large glass cube.
Each player has nine lives and must complete up to seven challenges, ranging from agility tests to skill trials. The winning contestant is promised a "life-changing amount of money" on the programme, due to be aired later this year.
Schofield wrote on his website: "The Cube operates on the basis that undertaking even a seemingly effortless task magnifies enormously when doing it in a high pressure environment. It's a really simple idea that translates into a cracking format."
State-of-the-art filming techniques will be used to illustrate the anxiety felt by contestants.
