According to Portfolio, the mastermind behind 'N Sync and Backstreet Boys has teamed up with reality producer Jonathan Murray and Florida-based band Biteboy to pitch the project.
Pearlman is reported to have a verbal contract with the alternative punk group, with their manager Rick Narney telling the magazine that the show will be "part Charlie's Angeles, part Making The Band".
The unnamed project will not be Pearlman's first venture into the world of reality television. In 1999, he launched a nationwide talent search for ABC's Making The Band which resulted in the creation of boyband O-Town.
Representatives for Murray, who co-created MTV's The Real World, have declined to comment.
Pearlman was jailed for 25 years last May after being found guilty of conning around $300 million (£153 million) from more than 250 individuals, including friends and family.
