C4's 'Supernanny' not to be messed with
Channel 4's new parenting reality series Supernanny stormed to a ratings triumph last night (Wednesday), according to overnight figures.

Episode two of the show, which sees tough nanny Jo Frost take on unruly children, averaged a hefty 5.7 million viewers and a 27.0% audience share in the 9pm hour, up from 4.6 million (21.2%) last week. Ratings peaked with 6.5 million (30.1%) at 9.45pm.

Supernanny easily beat off the competition from all other networks; only ITV1 could come close with 4.1 million (19.5%) for naval drama Making Waves.

It also provided a strong lead-in for Big Brother at 10pm, which averaged 6.1 million (32.4%) over 50 minutes.

The figures even managed to top those for C4's acclaimed hit Wife Swap, which had managed 5 million (22.3%) a day earlier.
