David Mitchell has mocked "rude" TV shows such as Dragons' Den and Come Dine With Me in a video blog.

The Peep Show star criticises the lack of manners on both programmes in his latest soap box rant on MeetTheBulldog.com.

Speaking about Dragon's Den, Mitchell says: "[The show] is a bare-faced lie. The people who do those jobs are not rude...They don’t spend ten minutes thinking up a weak pun. 'A new type of cheese? I'd be crackers to invest' - it's as if they're auditioning for The Beano.

"They're trying to sell fake indignation and weak put-downs as wit."

On the subject of Channel 4's Come Dine With Me, he complains: "Shows like this recklessly gobble up our capacity to be shocked by people being rude to each for short term gain.

"Like the rain forest, once it's been destroyed to make grazing land for cattle, it's gone forever. In this metaphor, cows stand for rudeness and selfishness."

He also singles out Anne Robinson's The Weakest Link for criticism, calling the host a "plastic-faced witch".

"The Weakest Link is the epitome of rudeness for rudeness sake. The contestants are synthetically bullied by a pantomime villain, who to add insult to insult isn't even very good at being rude."
