Stephen Fry has been dropped as the face of Twinings tea after chiefs reportedly decided to advertise without using a celebrity.

The comic and TV presenter has represented the upmarket drinks brand for four years.

Twinnings now plans a £3.5 million advertising campaign to promote its Everyday teas, reports the Sunday Mirror.

Fry, who was recently named as one of Twitter's most popular users, will join Jack Dee and Rob Brydon as hosts for the return of the Radio 4 panel show I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue. The trio are taking over from former chair Humphrey Lyttelton, who died last year.
