Lynda La Plante has been commissioned to adapt her second novel The Red Dahlia, ITV announces.
The writer will make a sequel to sequel to her ratings-winning drama Above Suspicion, which starred Kelly Reilly and Ciarán Hinds.
Director of drama Laura Mackie said of the commissioning: "Above Suspicion was one of the highlights of the winter season on ITV1 and I’m delighted that Lynda is bringing Anna Travis back for another gripping investigation."
“A copycat killing of such horror brings DC Travis and DCI Langton back together after Travis has accomplished work on three further cases," said La Plante.
"The response to Above Suspicion mirrored the response to the first series of Prime Suspect which is very, very exciting."
The three-part drama, Above Suspicion: The Red Dahlia, will be produced by La Plante Productions, with filming starting later this year.
