The former T4 host will be joined on the Friday night show by regular team captains Ferne Britton and Jason Manford.
Each week, the two captains will be joined by celebrity teams to battle it out in five TV trivia rounds.
"It is a pleasure to announce the commissioning of As Seen On TV, which is a fun and exciting new format for Friday nights," said BBC controller of entertainment Mark Linsey.
"With Steve Jones at the helm and Ferne and Jason at his side this show will offer telly fans an opportunity to test their TV knowledge along with a wealth of celebrity guests."
The series, comprising eight half-hour episodes, is due to commence in early summer.
