Speaking on ITV1's This Morning, the chef admitted that actor and comedian Adrian Edmondson had a "very big chance of winning".
"He's nice, he's funny. I don't know him, but you can see just by looking at him, he's serious. He's got good energy," he explained.
Discussing Anthea Turner's comments that she would probably rearrange his kitchen, he said: "I think she's got more chance of being a waitress if she rearranges my kitchen! She wont have time. Sometimes they just can't help themselves can they?"
He added that model Danielle Bux was mistaken to say that he made her nervous, claiming: "I do not have the abilities to intimidate anybody. They do it to themselves. So if she's feeling like that and feeling nervous, then she's doing that to herself."
However, White admitted that he felt "protective" of the contestants, saying: "There's a very fine line between being a bully and being a protector. I came from a world where...your chef was very firm and as hard as nails. But he protected you, and guided you, and taught you, and inspired you.
"For the celebs that are working with me for 14 or 15 days, they are putting those 15 days in my hands. It's their choice whether they enjoy it or turn it into a nightmare."
