ITV dumps 'The Block' from primetime

ITV has decided to ditch new property reality series The Block from its primetime schedule after another embarrassing ratings performance last night (Tuesday).
The show - originally from Australia - began a fortnight ago with an unimpressive 2.6 million (11.6%). Last week it had a modest increase to 2.7 million (12.9%) but last night it was down to a low of 2.3 million (10.3%), ranking it behind every other terrestrial broadcaster.
In the preceding hour, ITV's continuing quiz show The Vault also fared badly with just 3.3 million (15.1%). It too is getting the axe from the primetime schedules.
Next Tuesday (August 24) will be the last time both shows go out in their current slots; the following week a repeat of the movie Twister is scheduled.
The Block is being relegated to a post-11pm slot for the rest of its eigth-week run.
