Corrie at 40: Turkey dinners axed

Coronation Street stars are reportedly angry at a recent decision to axe their Chrsitmas dinner.
Normally, actors are filmed eating a real turkey dinner for festive episodes of the soap, but this year will only be shown doing the washing-up afterwards. The decision is a cost-cutting move by producers, but has left some actors disappointed.
Sue Nicholls, who plays councillor Audrey Roberts, told The Daily Star: "The best time was always Christmas - especially when Alf was around. In past years the family would sit down to roast turkey and all the trimmings. We'd actually get to eat the slap-up meal. They'll have us scraping the plates clean afterwards with not even a parsnip in sight. It's a sign of the times, I suppose."
A Street spokeswoman said, "I don't think seeing 50 actors from the Street tucking into their turkey meals on Christmas Day would make great viewing. These days we focus on dramatic plots mixed with everyday activities."
