The actor, who played Spanish waiter Manuel in the iconic BBC sitcom, said that he did not approve of plans to tamper with the original show.
"I don't think [it would be a success]," he said. "They had a version in America but it didn't do very well. I saw one of them, and I didn't think it was as bad as everybody else thought.
"There was talk of me going over to do it at one point, but it never came to anything."
Sachs also revealed that the show's co-writer John Cleese had wanted to write more episodes than the original 12, but refused to ever work on any more without the assistance of his ex-wife and fellow writer Connie Booth.
"I asked John once, would you ever write another episode, and he said he might do one day, but never without Connie," said Sachs.
"She played a much bigger part in the creation of the series than she’s given credit for."
Sachs begins a 17-episode run as Ramsay Clegg in Coronation Street on Friday, May 15 at 7:30pm on ITV1. The 79-year-old will play the estranged brother of shop assistant Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebden).
