Simon Cowell has admitted that his fame won't last forever.

"My act is going to run out fairly quickly," he said at the International Television Festival in Edinburgh. "There's no question of that.

"I can do what I do on these shows, I can add some humour, some honesty, whatever, but I have no inclination to be doing this in five or ten years time.

"I'm bored of just watching 22-year-olds coming on to a talent show and saying, 'Make me famous'."

The Pop Idol judge's new talent show, X Factor, launches next month on ITV1.
