The four-part series, presented by historian and art expert Guy Casely-Heyford, will explore the history of Africa's ancient civilisations and investigate myths and legends surrounding its mysterious kingdoms.
"This promises to be a fascinating exploration of a part of Africa’s history that is often overlooked and I’m really looking forward to Guy Casely-Heyford bringing all his insight and experience to this important new series," said BBC Four controller Richard Klein.
The programme is due to air later this year.
