Una Stubbs joins 'Benidorm' cast

Una Stubbs has joined the cast of ITV1 comedy Benidorm, reports The Mirror.

The 72-year-old apparently arrived on the Costa Blanca set last week to begin filming her role as Martin's snooty mum.

"Her son loves the fun and brashness of Benidorm, but his mum is a totally different person," a source said.

"She refuses to stay at the Hotel Metropolis, where the likes of Geoff Maltby (Johnny Vegas) and Madge Barron (Sheila Reid) stay. She ends up in an exclusive luxury hotel which overlooks the sprawl and skyscrapers where the package holidaymakers stay."

The actress has previously starred in Fawlty Towers and Till Death Us Do Part.

It was recently announced that Benidorm will switch to an hour-long format when it returns this summer.
