A gospel singer won the first ever Indonesian Idol competition last night.
24-year-old Joy Tobing burst into tears after being announced as the winner of the contest, after visiting shopping centres and schools over the past week in order to convince people to vote for her, along with fellow gospel singer Delon Thamrin, who came second.
"Thank you, Lord Jesus Christ," she said after the result was announced. "Thank you for all who have helped me.
"We were nothing before this and now people know us. They have given us so much love."
