Garraway denies GMTV rivalry claims

Kate Garraway has rubbished claims that she is involved in a feud with her GMTV colleague Emma Crosby.

The presenter was said to be jealous of Crosby after the former Sky News anchor was named as Fiona Phillips's sofa replacement in November last year.

Crosby's appointment came in spite of suggestions that Garraway would take over as the breakfast programme's main host following Phillips's decision to quit. Instead, the pair now share presenting duties.

Speaking to The People, Garraway explained: "It was difficult when she started, but that wasn't because of me. It was because of everyone else jumping to the conclusion that there would be problems between us."

She added: "Emma and I are friends now, she even came to my husband's recent book launch."

Rumours of ill-feeling between Garraway and Phillips also hit the press late last year.

However, she has now insisted: "I miss Fiona so much. It was like losing a very close friend."
