'Celebrity Masterchef' opens to 3.3m

Wednesday's opening episode of Celebrity Masterchef pulled in 3.32m (14.3%) for BBC One, according to the latest figures.

The 8pm show, featuring celebrities including Michael Obiora and Jayne Middlemiss, was affected by a clash with ITV1's live coverage of the England game against Andorra. The match averaged a respectable 8.03m (35.5%) between 7.45pm and 10.30pm, peaking with 9.77m (42.4%) at 9.55pm.

Later on BBC One, the second part of Living With Monkeys: Tales From The Treetops took 2.04m (8.9%) at 9pm.

Over on BBC Two, the latest Springwatch had 2.91m (12.6%) at 8pm. The audience then dropped to 1.48m (6.6%) during the 9pm screening of Rick Stein's Memoirs Of A Seafood Chef.

Five's double bill of CSI repeats began at 8pm, attracting 817k (3.5%) and 1.15m (5%) respectively.

River Cottage put in 1.82m (7.9%) for Channel 4 at 8pm, then the penultimate episode of Embarrassing Bodies interested 3.23m (14%) at 9pm. The latest visit to Big Brother drew 2.14m (12.3%) during the 10pm hour.

Overall, ITV1 dominated primetime with an average share of 33.2% to BBC One's 14.6%. Channel 4 was third with 9.7% (+1: 1%), followed by BBC Two with 8.4% and Five's 3.6%.

Elsewhere, ITV2's 8pm screening of Gossip Girl grabbed 240k (1.2%) and 214k (1.3%) tuned in for the second episode of Life on ITV3 at 10pm.
